Great enthusiasm for shopping malls in most African cities suggests that more development will take place over the next few years. Institutional investors now regard Africa\u2019s emerging middle class and its growing consumerism the most attractive aspect of investing in Africa, more so than its commodity wealth.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\"><em>So retail growth is here to stay in Africa. But it\u2019s all part of a complex long-term game in which different markets are racing to secure the best positions. Sub-Saharan Africa is quite heterogeneous; retailers experience different levels of success in different markets.
